Ebony's
Dog
World
WCOW eBONY won her class 6-12yrs YKC handling Wolfscastle Honey Bunny.
and then won the challenge!
Apart from handling our dogs Ebony has also been asked
to show @ champ. shows in other breeds.
Ebony's wins 2007 so far So far she has handled a Norfolk Terrier,
Corgi, Flat coated Retriever, Westie, Whippet, Cocker Spaniel, Basset
fauve, and is hoping to handle a friends MP Afghan soon. Not bad for
an 11yr old. She really does love her dogs and has a natural ability
with them. We are so happy And proud of her and her achievements.
Ebony is also an active member at The Pembrokeshire Canine Ass.
And has recently accepted a post to judge in November.
She has made some great friends through her dogs and was disappointed
when YKC camp was cancelled this year, so we took her group of school
friends to some local shows and had our own camp on the lawn! Zoe

I started showing dogs at the age of 3, with my lurcher
who was called PIP (my dad rescued her while working on a building
site). We won many things together, but the big win that stands out
the most to me is when I was 3 year old and we won Pembrokeshire dog
of the year millennium. With winning that, we qualified for dog of
the year, so that month we had to travel all the way up to Manchester
for the finals. Unfortunately I didn’t get any but it was a
great weekend away. Sadly late last year PIP had to be put to sleep
because of old age and a heart failure. All of us were devastated
with the loss of our old girl. Now on to the happier side of things.
I have done very well at open and championship show level. Handling
my Whippets, Deerhounds and occasionally my Mini Wire Haired Dachshunds.
I’ve shown at Crufts since the age of 6, in breed classes and
YKC. This year I’ve qualified for YKC Handling and YKC National
Handling. I’m showing my Whippet Honey (Wolfscastle Honey Bunny)
in the YKC National Handling, 2 deerhounds, Doogal (Wolfscastle Wood
Melick) in the KC handling and Dixie (Wolfscastle Wild Orchid) in
the breed class, I’m also handling a friends Norfolk Terrier
in it’s breed class.
Last week I brought Honey into my class to tell every one about my
hobby.
We both did really well together Honey stood on the class table when
I was telling the whole class about dog handling. I answered all the
questions that were asked and we set a time record, we were suppose
to speak for 4 to 5 minutes but we ended up speaking for 8 minutes
instead. I think my teacher Miss L Hart was so interested in what
I was saying she wasn’t looking at the stop watch. I think all
of my class enjoy it very much!!! I still can’t believe they
let us take a dog to school.
I really enjoyed YKC camp 2006. It’s the first time I have been
there. It was so much fun because you got to try out different things
with your dogs such as heel work to music, agility, good citizens,
and obedience’s. There were groups that we got split up into,
I was in Brilliant Boxers and this year the camp challenge was to
make a kite that would represent the team and would also fly. My team
won the camp challenge. During the week we had to dress up as cow
boys and cow girls, we also had to dress up as it was a Halloween
theme party. Then later on that week we had a talent show when all
the teams that week had to learn a song and dance routine to the curtain
song that the team captain chose my team had, DON’T STOP MOVING
TO THE S CLUB BEAT (by S club 7). We came 3rd out of all the teams.
The over all winners out of all the teams, were the BRILLIANT BOXERS.
So thank you YKC for organising such a fun week for all of us!!!
We are a good team at Wolfscastle, even though we have to travel long
distances to some shows, and my mum & dad work as well as taking
care of all of us, it is still enjoyable and I like all the people
I have met through my dogs. I have made some great friends. We enjoy
our dogs as pets, if they become show dogs that is a bonus as my mum
says. Win, loose or draw we always come home with the best dog!!!!!!!
My dogs are my best friends, so loyal and loving. EBONY
