A visit to Lodge Park and a deerhound puppy from Wales
For many years we have been interested in deerhounds and Lure Coursing.
When we visited the deerhound races at Lodge Park in 2007 we noticed a
beautiful bitch doing very well in the field: Wolfscastle Wild Orchid.
A few months later we got to know through kennel Wolfscastle’s homepage
that she had been mated with Astonbrook Claudius of Brangalad and that
her first litter was born early March 2008.
An email was sent to Zoe and Kim immediately and they responded positively:
of course one of the puppies could go to Norway! In May we went to Wales
to see Zoe, Kim and the pups and in mid July Wolfscastle Strammish (Brynn)
arrived at Oslo Airport.
Brynn is a self-confident, strong-headed boy who gets on very well with
our two older deerhounds (N S UCH Baylind Edgar (10) and Nord Int UCH
Baylind Gerald (7)). He is active and humorous, very well built for his
age and has a lovely temper. He can, of course, be a bit naughty too….
At seven months age he made his first visit to the coursing field, and
the result was very promising. He has also attended a few shows with great
success. At his first official puppy show he was best deerhound puppy
and winner of the sighthound group. As a junior he has already got 2 CCs
and has once become second best among the all the dogs. Surely we are
very proud of him.
We live in a quiet area in the outskirts of Oslo, and Brynn is very fond
of our walks in the wood. This winter we have had a lot of snow and Brynn
simply loves it. He has even tried cross-country skiing.
We are very pleased with Brynn and look forward to get to know him even
better in the years to come. Many thanks to Zoe and Kim for letting him
come to Norway and live his life with us.
